The funny novel follows Plum Kettle, an over-weight advice journalist who answers fan mail for a teen girls’ website. She’s convinced that her life won’t really start until she saves up enough money for her weight-loss operation — when she’ll finally look like the ‘‘perfect’, woman. 学习啦在线学习网 When men get together, they seldom talk about their feelings or inner thoughts. However, they talk about a lot, like their newest computer, how to repair their car, or even business.
Talk might move to the best place to find fish or women, jump to computer games, then continue to the sport of the season. They also like to tell jokes each other and spend a fair amount of time playing one-up and boasting (吹牛). Men seldom call each other to chat.
学习啦在线学习网 When man meets woman, he usually wants to make a good impression. Many single men try hard to carry on amusing, fun, and pleasant conversations. They use conversation to discover her interests and feelings in order to learn how to be attractive to her.
Some men, either out of nervousness or ignorance, spend most of the time talking about themselves, often appearing to brag about their achievements or talk endlessly about their problems or work. Even the quietest man talks to his woman when love is new.
When women get together, they talk about feelings and relationships, their work, and their family. They enjoy talking but also want the give and take of talk, then listen. Women often call each other to chat. Conversation is an important part of most women’s lives.
As relationships progress, however, many a man turns on the television and forgets how to talk. This raises anger and cry from his woman partner who says, “You never talk to me anymore.” Some men start talking. Many, however, mainly discuss their own achievements and problems.
When the woman starts talking about her favorite subjects: feelings, family, relationships, friends and her work, many men lose interest or bring the conversation back to themselves. When an accident happens, a first aid program that meets the requirements of the law and is made to the type and size of the workplace can really make the difference between life and death, or between recovery and lasting disablement (伤残).
学习啦在线学习网 Employers should make sure that all employees know where emergency information is posted at the work place. The emergency notice should show the phone numbers of the closest ambulance service, fire/rescue unit, police station, and hospital. The amount of time it takes to look up one of these important numbers can make a big difference to a seriously injured person. The place of first aid equipment and rescue equipment should also be posted.
All work places should have a person with first aid or medical training in case of an emergency. First aid equipment and supplies, including a variety of dressings and instruments, as well as an up-to-date first aid book, should be stored where they can be reached quickly and easily in case of an accident. These supplies should be inspected frequently, making sure they are kept in sanitary (卫生)and usable condition and re-stored after use. Larger workplaces may need more than one, fully-equipped first aid bag.
学习啦在线学习网 In lonely work places, emergency supplies and an action plan are especially important. At least one person trained in emergency first aid should always be on-site (现场j). If first aid is not given properly, it can sometimes hurt rather than help an injured person, or even be harmful to the person giving the first aid. All workers should know who is trained to give first aid on-site, where the emergency first aid equipment is put, and what medical professional or medical instruments should be found if a medical emergency happens.

Developing a better relationship with parents is important for most of the people._36 For example, some adult children believe that parents are not able to understand their life styles while some believe parents want to control their lives. Here arc some tips on how to develop a better relationship with your parents.
37 Love your parents for who they are, not for who you want them to be. Realize how much they have done in order to give you the best life possible. Recognize the difference in your respective ages. Priorities (优先处理的事)change as a person grows older and wiser. Respect the way they live and in return, they will respect the way you live.Take your parents’ advice seriously. Listen to their stories and learn from their past experiences. Parents don’t want you to make the same mistakes they did and it hurts them to see their children go through any difficult times. Realize that your parents are not trying to control you. 38
39 Make an effort to spend quality time with your parents. Remember to visit them as often as you can. Get involved in their activities. Parents love to share the excitements of their lives with their children. Listen to their adventures, as parents often want their children to hear their latest news.
Make an effort to communicate with your parents more often. 40 Ask for advice when it’s needed. Listen and accept their concerns.
