More and more people have phones today. Phone calls and messages help us easily keep in touch with others. It means that we seldom write letters now, but a TV show----Letters Alive(见字如面), is bringing back this old habit.

学习啦在线学习网 Letters Alive got its idea from a UK program with a similar name. Both shows invite famous actors and actresses, but there are no funny jokes or different competitions. Instead, it’s just one person walking up to a microphone and reading a letter.

The letters were written by people from different times in history. For example, in one episode(一集) they read a letter written by famous writer Xiao Hong to her younger brother in 1941. The letter shows that Xiao Hong missed her brother so much and had great hopes for his future.

Since its first episode on Dec 5, 2016, Letters Alive has been widely welcomed. Many audience members said that it has provided a breath of fresh air to today’s TV shows.

Apart from Letters Alive, some other cultural TV shows have also been well received by Chinese audiences. They include Chinese Poetry Conference (中国诗词大会), a classical Chinese poetry competition, and Readers(朗读者), a program that invites people to read poems and articles they like or wrote.

学习啦在线学习网 “This means that our audiences are not only looking for entertainment like gossip(八卦) and eye-catching games,” reported China Youth Daily. “Cultural values and true feelings are the keys to winning praise.”

学习啦在线学习网 五、任务型阅读 阅读下面短文,根据所读内容在文章后表格中的空格里填入一个最恰当的单词。每个空格只填1个单词。(共10空;每空1分,满分10分)

学习啦在线学习网 No matter when we meet with difficulty or failure, teachers, parents or others often say to us or perhaps we say to ourselves, “Never give up.” These can be encouraging words and words of determination(决心). A person who believes in himself will keep trying to reach his goal no matter how many times he fails. In m y opinion, the quality of determination to succeed is an important one to have. Therefore, I believe that we should never give up.

One reason is that if we give up too easily, we will hardly achieve anything. It is not unusual for us to fail in our first attempt(尝试) at something new, so we should not feel disappointed(失望的) and should try again. Besides, if we always give up when we fail, we will not be able to develop new skills and grow.

Another reason we should never give up is that we can learn from our mistakes so that we can not make the same ones. If we do not try again, the lesson we have learned is wasted.

Finally, we should never give up because as we work to reach our goals, we develop confidence, and this confidence can help us succeed in other areas of our lives. If we never challenge ourselves, we will begin to doubt our abilities.

In short, it is important that we do not give up when working for our goals. Whether we succeed in the end or not, we will learn something, and what we learn will help us to become better and more confident. Furthermore, if we give up, we have no chance of reaching our goals any more, but if we keep making great efforts, there is always a chance that we will succeed one day.
