Todd: Hello, Gabrielle!

学习啦在线学习网 Gabrielle: Good thanks.
Todd: Now, Grabrielle, I hear that you are going back home to New Zealand.

Todd: OK. What are your plans?
学习啦在线学习网 Gabrielle: Probably a week relaxing, going camping, and then I'm going back to work.
学习啦在线学习网 Todd: Oh, OK. Where do you work?
学习啦在线学习网 Gabrielle: I teach as an English teacher in Christchurch, in New Zealand.
Todd: Oh, OK. And that's where you're from, naturally.

Todd: Were you born there?
Gabrielle: I was, yeah!
学习啦在线学习网 Todd: Well, you are going to have this short little break, or vacation, are you gonna go to the beach...the mountains?
Gabrielle: Probably..probably to the beach and camping for about a week with friends, yeah!

Gabrielle: Probably a maximum of about 30 degrees. A nice dry heat! Very comfortable.
Todd: So when you go to the beach is the water warm enough to swim in?
学习啦在线学习网 Gabrielle: No, no, no! We swim but it is not warm. Yeah! It's pretty chilly actually.
Todd: OK. Any other plans when you go home?
Gabrielle: Yeah, I'm looking forward to catching up with friends and family and animals.
Todd: Animals!
Gabrielle: Well, I miss my pets.
Todd: OK, well, what pets do you have?

Todd: Wow!

Todd: I'm sure they're really excited to see you. Alright, thanks a lot.

Todd: OK, Devon, I've been putting on a few pounds and you're quite a lean fit guy.
Devon: Well, thank you.
学习啦在线学习网 Todd: What do you recommend? What can I do to lose weight?
学习啦在线学习网 Devon: Well, I exercise a lot. I go running at least three times a week. But more than that I enjoy playing sports and so different sports use different muscles and all of it helps to lose that weight that you might have gained.
Todd: Yeah, well, actually, one of the problems is that I actually exercise a lot.
Devon: Do ya?
Todd: Yeah, so maybe it's my diet.
Devon: It could be and so in that case you might want to eat something perhaps more nutritious or maybe even less of what you do eat. Maybe, I eat three meals a day and I try not to snack in between. No potato chips. No popcorn. No candy bars.
Todd: That's pretty tough!
Devon: It is tough but......Well, I must admit that I cheat every once in awhile but...
Todd: Ok, I'll give it a try....but actually, you see my problem is that I like junk food. So I have to choose: either I eat less or I eat a better diet. What do you think is more important?
Devon: I think that if you are exercizing then you should just eat what you want and eat less.

Todd: Hello Michael.
Michael: Hello Todd.
Todd: We're going to talk about Australia. Or your going to talk about Australia. So first of allhow many people live in Australia?
Michael: Australia? Oh, there's about twenty million people in Australia right now. A little bitunder, but close to twenty.
Todd: OK. What are the biggest cities?
学习啦在线学习网 Michael: The biggest city? The biggest city is Sydney, then it's followed by Melbourne and thenBrisbane and then I think it's Perth. But most of the big cities are on the East Coast ofAustralia. And Perth is on the west coast, but sort of of out there by itself.
Todd: OK. Um, if you had to live in one place where would you live?
学习啦在线学习网 Michael: I like Brisbane. I had my teenage years in Brisbane, growing up in Brisbane, um ormaybe Sidney because it is a big city, but Brisbane has got the gold coast and the sunshine.
Todd: Oh, nice. Actually, what is the capital city of Australia?
Michael: Ah, Canberra is the capital city. But is not the biggest city. Sydney is the biggest city.Canberra was made sort of by the politicians so Sydney wouldn't get too crowded. It's aseparate territory.
Todd: Have you been to all the major cities in Australia?
学习啦在线学习网 Michael: I have been to Melbourne when I was young, but yeah, I have. But yeah. Only a shorttime in Perth.

Michael: The best thing about Australia? Ah, probably the friendly people. The relaxed attitude,and we like visitors from other cultures.
Todd: Oh, cool. Ah, how are Australians different than other people? How are they unique?
学习啦在线学习网 Michael: How are Australians unique? Um, I would say that we're more fun-loving maybe oraccepting of other people. And we don't mind making new friends actually and conversing withother people.
